NCIDQ Appoints New Public Member to Board

WASHINGTON, DC - The National Council for Interior Design Qualification, Inc. (NCIDQ) announces a new public member for the 2008-2009 Board of Directors. On June 24, 2008, the NCIDQ Board of Directors accepted the Nominating Committee's recommendation of James L. Brothers as the public member of the Board. The Board appointed Brothers per the bylaws to fill a vacancy created when Beth Holst resigned to become Vice President of Credentialing at the Green Building Certification Institute. Brothers will serve through 2009. The Board and NCIDQ are pleased to welcome Brothers to the organization.

Brothers brings to the Board a vast knowledge of public protection and standards in building codes. He has more than 23 years of experience working for the city of Decatur, AL. He is the Building Director for the city of Decatur, a position he has held for more than 19 years. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Code Council, where his experience in administering a building department and codes on a local level has reached national exposure.

"I could not be more thrilled to join NCIDQ to assist the organization in furthing its mission of protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public," says Brothers. "I am a firm advocate for public safety and building safety and feel strongly that my collaboration with NCIDQ will further ensure building code standards are learned and met."

Brothers attended the University of Alabama, where he also received his certification as Regional and Urban Planner. He currently serves on the State of Alabama Residential Energy Code Board and the U.S. Fire Administration's Public/Private Fire Safety Council and has served on a number of committees and councils focusing on the interests of public safety in the building environment.
