New Directors to Lead NCIDQ in 2008
New Directors to Lead NCIDQ
in 2008
NCIDQ's Board of Directors begins 2008 with new faces and new leadership, but it will continue to focus on its central mission: protecting the public by setting competency standards for the practice of interior design.
NCIDQ's Board of Directors is composed of seven interior designer members, all of whom hold the NCIDQ Certificate, and one public member who is charged to represent the public's interest in the profession.
At NCIDQ's Annual Meeting in November, new members were elected to the Board of Directors. Patty Blaser (New Jersey) and Suzy Regitz (Illinois) will serve two-year terms beginning this year. Ernest Rhoads (Washington) will serve in 2008 in place of Deborah Steinmetz (Louisiana) who was elected President-Elect for 2008. Carol Jones (British Columbia) will return to the Board for one year to fill the remainder of Sharon Del Bianco's term.
Joining Blaser, Regitz and Rhoads on the Board is returning Public Member Beth Holst (Virginia). This year's officers are Sandra Friend, President; Deborah Steinmetz, President-Elect; and Jan Bast, Past President.

Robin Wagner receives Tregre Award
Robin Wagner (pictured on right) received the 2007 Louis S. Tregre Award at NCIDQ's Annual Council of Delegates Meeting in Seattle. The Tregre Award recognizes an individual for outstanding volunteer work at the grassroots level in support of the NCIDQ mission. The award was created in 1991 to honor the memory of Louis Tregre, who served as NCIDQ President from 1974 until the mid-1980s.
Wagner is an Assistant Professor in Interior Design at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and is recognized for her leadership and commitment serving on the NCIDQ Exam Multiple-Choice Committee. In 2000, she joined the committee and due to her exemplary service, was soon invited to serve as Chair. Wagner stepped down as Multiple-Choice Committee Chair in 2006 to mentor new question writers and provide continuity for the new Chair.
"This is such an honor," says Wagner. "The work NCIDQ does for its members and the public is so important, and I am proud to be a part of it. Thank you NCIDQ for this award and making my time with you so enjoyable!"
Active Certificate holders are invited to submit nominations for the next Tregre Award recipient! The nominee may or may not be an interior designer, but should be someone whose volunteer efforts at the grassroots level are furthering NCIDQ's mission of public protection. Send us your nominee's name and contact information, a written recommendation of approximately 150 words, your name and contact information, and the name and contact information of two additional people who can verify the nominee's qualifications. Nominations are due by June 1, 2008.
