Fall 2008 Examination Information

Fact vs. Fiction

More than 22,000 interior designers hold the NCIDQ Certificate. Do you know someone who has the education and experience to qualify for the Certificate, but hasn't yet taken the Examination? If so, please forward this information.

The deadline to apply for the Fall Examination is June 10, 2008. To apply, go to www.ncidq.org and click on "Apply for the Exam" on the right side of the page.

There are a lot of misconceptions about the exam and our requirements that may cause some people to delay their application. There is a belief that NCIDQ requires completion of IDEP in order to take the exam. That is not true. We encourage participation in IDEP but do not require it. Only Ontario requires completion of IDEP prior to taking the Examination.

Another misconception is that NCIDQ now requires all work experience to be supervised. The new supervision requirement applies only to individuals who start earning qualified work experience in 2008. Anyone who has any amount of qualified work experience in 2007 or earlier does not need to comply with the 2008 requirement.

Learn more about exam qualifications by viewing the Exam Eligibility Requirements on our Web site at http://www.ncidq.org/exam/examreq.htm.

NCIDQ Monographs

NCIDQ's Newest Monograph Provides an Education in Ethics

ethicscoverNCIDQ has added another publication to its self-study monograph collection. Ethical Decision-Making for Designers is a new edition of the popular Ethics and the Design Professions. The stakes have never been higher regarding personal and professional integrity. Ethical decision-making skills are critical to the success of design practitioners. Author and ethics specialist Deborah Long wrote the monograph to provide design professionals with the opportunity to discuss the ethical temptations and dilemmas they face.

NCIDQ monographs offer you a convenient and affordable way to stay on top of this field while earning the CEUs you need for registration renewal or professional membership renewal. Like all NCIDQ monographs, Ethical Decision-Making for Designers comes with a 25-question quiz that enables you to demonstrate mastery of this important topic.

NCIDQ's Ethical Decision-Making for Designers is available for purchase for $115, which includes the monograph and accompanying quiz. Active NCIDQ Certificate holders may take 10% off this price when they provide their Certificate number. You'll earn 0.6 CEUs when you complete the monograph.
